PBA: NLEX’s Tallo earns Player of the Week nod

MANILA, Philippine -- Making most of the minutes he is getting in the absence of NLEX’s top guards, free-agent pick-up Mac Tallo has powered the Road Warriors to an impressive 2-0 start in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
In just his second month with NLEX since being picked up from the free agent pool, Tallo has appeared at home with his new team and is averaging 15 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in their first wo games.
In the process, he became the first Cignal-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week awardee for the season-ending conference.
Tallo, the 10th overall pick in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, scored 16 points on top of three assists and a rebound when NLEX trounced TNT, 103-90, on opening day at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Two days later, he had 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist in their 123-107 triumph over a Stanley Pringle-less NorthPort team.
Tallo averaged 24 minutes of play in their first two assignments, capitalizing on the time given to him by acting coach Jojo Lastimosa as the Road Warriors continue to play on sans Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas.
The Road Warriors played their first two games without coach Yeng Guiao and Asi Taulava as well, as both men are serving flag and country in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
NLEX will play their third game in six days on Wednesday when they go up against Magnolia. Aaron Fuller is coming in to replace Olu Ashaolu, who valiantly competed for the Road Warriors in their first two games despite a ruptured patellar tendon.
